Liam Burke MVB MRCVS
A native of Kiltartan, Gort, Liam qualified with a Bachelors degree in Veterinary Medicine from UCD in 1992. After working in Mayo and South Tipperary he later moved to England to gain some Small Animal experience before returning home to Gort. He then joined up with Donal Deignan in 1996. Now a practice partner, when he is not working at Ballyhugh Vets, Liam likes to take to the open seas, sailing out of Galway Bay.
John Neylon MVB
John grew up on a dairy farm in West Clare. He graduated from UCD in 2001 with a Bachelors degree in Veterinary Medicine.
His first job was in Ballyhugh and he has stayed here since. John became a practice partner at Ballyhugh Vets in 2010.
John’s primary focus is in Large Animal medicine.
He lives with his wife and 3 children in Peterswell where he likes to spend his spare time tending his garden.
Sinead Laverty MVB
Sinead qualified from UCD in 1996 with a Bachelors degree in Veterinary Medicine. Having worked from the North to the South of Ireland she finally settled at Ballyhugh Vets in 2014. Married to a farmer in North Clare, Sinead now spends any free time at her home in the Burren with her 3 children, 4 dogs, 2 pet cats, 4 ponies and their herd of cattle. Sinead’s primary interest lies in Equine reproduction but she also has a keen interest in calf and foal medicine.
Lauren Diamant MVB
A graduate of UCD and originally from South Carolina, Lauren joined Ballyhugh Vets, having previously worked in small animal medicine in Florida and Pennsylvania. Lauren specialises in Companion Animal Medicine and Soft Tissue surgery at Ballyhugh. She now resides on her family’s farm with her husband, 3 children, 1 dog, 3 cats, and 3 chickens.
Stephen Nestor MVB
Stephen grew up on a suckler farm just outside of Gort. He graduated from UCD in 2015 with a Bachelors Degree in Veterinary Medicine. Having worked in East Clare for 2 years he then joined Ballyhugh Vets in 2017 where he now focuses primarily in Large Animal Medicine.
Martin Ruane DVM
Martin grew up on a sheep and suckler farm in Tubber, Co. Clare. He graduated from Budapest in 2018 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Having worked in Mountbellew for 2 years he then joined Ballyhugh Vets in 2020, splitting his time between the Large and Small Animal clinics. When he is not working, he spends his time farming and looking after his two dogs, Ringo and Penny, and his cat Panna.
Aine Stanford
Aine has been with Ballyhugh Vets since 2002. A qualified veterinary nurse she is in charge of the TB testing department as well as front of house responsibilities.
In her spare time Aine breeds Connemara ponies and is the proud owner of Daisy the Bassett hound.
Karen Davenport RVN
Karen joined Ballyhugh Vets in 2012 after completing her Veterinary Nursing in St. John’s Central College in 2011. In her spare time, she helps out on the small family farm in North Clare tending to their 5 bullocks and their pet goat. She is the owner of a rescue lurcher named Herriot.
Eadaoin Earley RVN
Eadaoin grew up on a farm just outside Gort. She qualified as a Veterinary Nurse from AIT in December 2020. She then went on to complete a Batchelor of SCience in Applied Bioscience and graduated from TUS in October 2021. Eadaoin has a great love for all animals, and enjoys working on the farm in her spare time alongside her 2 collies, Tobu and Lil.
Liz Elliott
Originally from Yorkshire, Liz joined the team at Ballyhugh Vets in 2002 having previously worked in the equine industry. Having completed her Responsible Person training, she is the manager of the farm shop and is in charge of all duties involved with front of house.
Liz and her husband Chris are owners to dogs Jade, Tess and Tucker.
Teresa McKeown
Teresa grew up in London and moved to Gort in 2002. She graduated from the University of Lincoln with a BioVeterinary degree in 2015.
Teresa joined our Small Animal team in 2022 and has rescued 2 dogs since she started working here. They now live on her family farm with her 3 other dogs, cat, donkey and the family herd of cattle.
